The Hydrogen Summer School 9th-13th September 2024 will be a week-long programme of lectures, tours of facilities and demonstrators, and expert talks from HyDEX partner universities. Loughborough University will provide the base, given its central location in the region, from where we will travel to the other HyDEX partner universities to visit world leading hydrogen research and demonstration facilities.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the current innovations within the hydrogen value chain and understand how the HyDEX programme is working to accelerate low carbon hydrogen solutions as part of the transition to net zero.

The Hydrogen School is open to anyone with an interest in learning more about hydrogen and the latest hydrogen technologies and applications.

We will aim to provide content tailored to the needs of a diverse audience including newcomers to the field, researchers, professionals working in energy or other relevant sectors.

The intended learning outcomes will include:

  • Understand how hydrogen can be a realistic alternative to fossil fuel and meet the challenges of net zero.
  • Understand the Midlands role in leading research and innovation in different hydrogen technologies.
  • Understand the hydrogen value chain and the opportunities and challenges of integrating hydrogen into the energy system.

A highlight of the week will be the tours of the various facilities at the partner universities, where you will have the opportunity to see the practical side of hydrogen research innovation and meet and engage with academics and research staff.
