Cranfield and Loughborough are the winners at the 2024 Hydrogen Awards
The 2nd Hydrogen Awards took place Keele University at the end of February, and entries from Cranfield and Loughborough won the top prizes in the academic excellence categories.
There were three academic categories in this year’s awards. In the UK Universities Award for Excellence in Hydrogen Research and Innovation, Dr Jerry Lou and colleagues at Cranfield won the Gold Award for the direct coupling control system for green hydrogen production (DCH2).
The award for excellence in research in the HyDEX group of universities also went to Cranfield University, to Dr Adrianus Indrat Aria and colleagues for sustainable green hydrogen production from seawater.
In the final awards category, Professor Dani Strickland and her team at Loughborough won the International Award in recognition of the multi-national partnerships that they have developed for their integrated battery-electrolyser technology, with countries including Malawi, Zambia and the Ivory Coast.
Doctor Sharon George, PI of HyDEX said: “The quality of all the entries this year was absolutely exceptional. It demonstrates the huge depth of talented world-class hydrogen researchers that we have across the HyDEX partnership. All of the finalists should be extremely proud of their achievements.”
Other finalists from ERA and HyDEX partner universities included Dr Paula Blanco-Sanchez from Aston University; Shahrouz Nayebossadri from University of Birmingham and Jon Horsley from Cranfield University.
